Flexo® Gorilla Sleeve NHN: High-Tenacity Heavy Duty Braided Sleeving
Gorilla Sleeve NHN: The ultimate shield…
Why choose Gorilla Sleeve NHN over standard PET sleeving?
- 20x longer service life: Laboratory tests are conclusive. Where PET frays under stress, Nylon 6-6 "NHN" absorbs the kinetic energy of friction without transferring the load to the internal conductors.
- 95%+ coverage rate: Its ultra-tight mesh leaves no room for debris to slide between the strands. It is a full-coverage protection against abrasive particle intrusion.
- TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) Optimization: The initial investment is quickly amortized by eliminating emergency maintenance interventions and extending overhaul cycles.
- Chemical and Thermal Neutrality: Designed for heavy industry, it remains inert to cutting oils and hydrocarbons, and withstands temperature peaks up to 150°C (302°F).
Expert Focus: The science behind the 0.50 mm monofilament
In the world of cable protection, wire thickness is the first line of defense. By choosing a high-tenacity monofilament, Gorilla Sleeve NHN provides a smooth contact surface that reduces the friction coefficient. The result? Instead of "snagging" the obstacle, the sleeve glides over the aggressor, limiting localized heating and mechanical fatigue of the materials.
Where to deploy the power of Gorilla Sleeve NHN?
Its "Heavy Duty" design makes it standard equipment for sectors where failure means major operating losses:
- Mining & Extraction: Critical protection of hydraulic lines on drills and conveyors subject to rock hammering.
- Forestry: Shielding of harnesses on harvester heads, where friction against bark and branches is constant.
- Welding Robotics & Foundry: Resistance to weld spatter and repetitive high-speed movements in automotive plants.
- Off-Shore Infrastructure: Protection of umbilical cables subject to salt aggression and sediment-laden sea currents.
- Railway Maintenance: Securing sensors and braking systems under the chassis, exposed to ballast projections.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
How do I cut Gorilla Sleeve NHN without it fraying? Due to the exceptional thickness of its monofilaments (0.50 mm), we strongly recommend using a hot knife. Heat cutting cauterizes the ends of the braid, ensuring a clean finish that does not unravel under mechanical vibrations.
Is it resistant to rodent or pest attacks?Yes. Unlike thin PET sleeves that rodents can easily bite through, the density and hardness of the Nylon 6-6 used in Gorilla Sleeve NHN discourage most pests. It is a preferred solution for underground electrical installations or isolated rural areas.
Can Gorilla Sleeve NHN be installed on already connected hoses?Gorilla Sleeve NHN is a closed tubular sleeve. For installation on existing hoses without removing fittings, we recommend our Flexo F6 (split sleeve) range. Gorilla Sleeve NHN is best installed during the initial assembly of the harness or hydraulic hose.
What is the real difference between standard Nylon and "NHN" Nylon?Standard Nylon is often optimized for aesthetics or light protection. NHN (Nylon Heavy Duty) grade is a high-tenacity polymer treated to provide a superior sliding coefficient and increased resilience to fatigue cycles. It retains its mechanical properties even after prolonged exposure to UV or industrial chemicals.
Dealing with premature wear on your installations? Our technical consultants don't just sell sleeves; they analyze your friction constraints to recommend the ideal braiding.
