Flexo® KV

Carbon and standard sleeves quickly fail under extreme field conditions. The Flexo® KV (Kevlar®) braided sleeve…
Why choose Flexo® KV over a PET braided sleeve or protective tape?
- Ultimate cut and abrasion resistance: Engineered for routing paths exposed to flying debris, continuous sharp-edge friction, or puncture risks.
- Unmatched strength-to-weight ratio: Significantly slashes assembly weight compared to metallic shielding or rigid conduits—a make-or-break factor for onboard applications (weight saving).
- Thermal stability and fire behavior: True Kevlar® fiber only begins to char at 425°C. It will not melt or drip, shielding the underlying bundle from direct radiant heat.
- Chemical and dielectric immunity: Completely impervious to common industrial oils, fuels, lubricants, and solvents, while acting as a natural electrical insulator.

Where should you deploy Flexo® KV braided sleeving?
The rugged versatility of this heavy-duty sleeving makes it the go-to standard for protecting cables and hoses in critical industries:
- Automobile & Motorsport: Shielding engine sensor wire harnesses, fuel lines, and chassis areas exposed to gravel blasting on race vehicles.
- Aerospace & Defense: Sleeving onboard wiring vulnerable to severe vibrations and structural friction risks, without any weight penalty.
- Industrial & Robotics: Protecting welding or laser-cutter robot umbilical cables, where spark splatter and mechanical abrasive wear are daily challenges.
- Marine & Offshore: Securing deck cables and hydraulic lines subjected to extreme tension and highly corrosive marine environments.
- Energy & Renewables: Safeguarding critical links in wind turbines or drilling equipment where down-time and maintenance are incredibly costly.
Certifications & Technical Specifications
Choosing Flexo® KV from Eurosleeving means relying on a braided sleeve that meets the most stringent international standards:
- Fire Safety: Non-flammable, does not melt (NFPA 701, based on DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber properties).
- Environmental: Fully compliant with RoHS and REACH directives, completely halogen-free.
- Thermal Resistance: Continuous operating temperature range from -170°C to +160°C. Degradation / charring point at +425°C.
- Physical Performance: Outstanding resistance to UV rays, moisture, and all common hydraulic fluids or hydrocarbons.

Your Questions on Using Flexo KV
How do you clean-cut Flexo® KV Kevlar® braided sleeving? Unlike PET or Nylon expandable sleeves that melt and seal instantly with a hot knife, Kevlar® fiber cannot be melted. Cutting Flexo® KV absolutely requires specialized aramid shears equipped with micro-serrated blades. To prevent the braid from fraying at the ends when sliding your cable bundle in, simply apply a piece of heat shrink tubing or termination tape immediately after the cut.
Is Techflex Flexo® KV electrical conductive? Absolutely not. The aramid fiber used to braid Flexo® KV is a natural dielectric insulator. It carries zero electrical conductivity and eliminates any short-circuit hazards, unlike stainless steel or tinned copper metal braids. This makes it the ideal engineering choice for mechanically shielding power cables or signal lines without altering the electrical characteristics of the system.
What is the exact expansion ratio of this sleeve compared to a Flexo® PET? Flexo® KV features a tight braid structure optimized to block mechanical damage. This limits its expansion ratio to about 25-30% beyond its nominal diameter, far from the 150% found on standard PET expandable sleeves. When routing bulky connectors or breakouts through a wire harness, it is crucial to size your sleeve based on the widest point or plan to slide it on prior to connector termination.
